Prehospital Treatment of Vitally Endangered Patients With Major Hemorrhage

Theoretical starting points The diploma thesis presents the issue of pre - hospital care of a vitally endangered patient with extensive bleeding. The purpose was to investigate the knowledge of recognizing and taking action of Emergency medical treatment employees in the event of encountering extensive bleeding in a vitally endangered patient. Method The research part of the thesis is quantitative. The sample consisted of 30 nurses, graduate nurses and paramedics involved in the Emergency medical treatment. The survey was conducted in May 2020. The results of the survey were processed using Microsoft Excel. Results The research showed that the majority of respondents with a vitally endangered patient with extensive bleeding are rare and that such a patient is recognized by pallor; at stopping bleeding, they most often use a compression bandage and least often a vascular forceps; respondents most often use gloves from personal protective equipment; to frequently (but not sufficiently) change the order of the victim's care algorithm while managing extensive bleeding, so that life-threatening bleeding care takes precedence over airway care; to assess statistically better the knowledge of co-workers about the care of vitally endangered patients with extensive bleeding than their own knowledge. However, we also found that the knowledge of the respondents regarding the recognition of hemorrhagic shock is not good enough and that the respondents want more specific education and more training regarding the care of a vitally endangered patient with extensive bleeding.
